A birdie is a miniature lantern, and it’s ideal for hiding in small parts of a set or along the downstage edge of a stage. It gives a surprisingly bright, soft-edged pool of light. The beam can spread a little unevenly. Even so, having a punch of light where no normal lantern can go is a massive advantage.
The beam from a birdie is also much cooler than a standard theatre lantern’s. That makes it a better choice for sensitive areas such as museums and old buildings. The PAR16 Birdie Light comes complete with a rotatable 4-door barn door, so you can direct the light where you need it.
